Okay, we've all been there. Admit it! You're looking to earn an income online and you feel that in order to do so, you have to get your hands on just about every marketing book out there, whether it be on Adwords, Adsense or whatever. It doesn't matter. If it exists, you have it. And worse yet, every time something new comes out, you get THAT too. Don't deny it! Like i said, we've all been there. I used to be an information junkie, but I haven't bought more than 3 or 4 books this past year. Why? I learned how to handle information overload and in this article I am going to show you how to do the same. It's really easy once you know the secret.
The first thing you need to do is organize. This is not as hard to do as you think. Each area of Internet marketing has its own topic, from A to Z. What you need to do is create a folder on your hard drive to hold all your marketing ebooks. Then, inside that folder, you're going to create subfolders for each item that you own. For example, for each book on Adwords that you own, create a folder called Adwords. This way, at the very least, you'll know where everything is so that you'll be able to get to it when you need it to reference something.
The next step is to make a schedule for yourself. You're going to prioritize the information that you have from the most important to learn to the least important to learn. This may take a while to do and you may not be sure about what's important and what's not. That's okay. Take your best guess and stick with it. In other words, go with your gut and don't second guess yourself. Otherwise, you'll never be able to finish this part of the process.
The next step is to take each book or each topic, in order from most important to least important, and start going through JUST that topic. Make sure that you understand the material before you move on to the next step.
The next step is NOT what you think. It's NOT to move on to the next topic. No, the next step is to take the information that you have just learned and USE it. That's right. Implement it in some way. See if you can't get some results out of it. With a self contained book like Adwords, this should be easy to do. You should be able to get an Adwords campaign running and producing at least some income.
Once you have gotten something accomplished with the previous topic, THEN you can move on to the next one. This will keep you from getting overloaded with information because you won't be moving on to the next topic until you've actually mastered, or at least near mastered the previous one.
Does this take discipline? Yes...lots of it. But if you can do these basics steps, you'll find that your information overload is a thing of the past.
